Our Story
A perfect fit is never an accident
A professional tailor specializes in customizing clothing to fit your body perfectly,
making you look great. At Tailoring & Alteration Center, we're dedicated to finding
the perfect fit for every customer.
For over four decades we have worked out of the same shop on Fenton Street, a few
minutes from downtown Silver Spring. In that time we have taken in wedding gowns the
week before the ceremony, re-cut suits for job interviews, shortened school uniforms,
rebuilt drapery for living rooms across Montgomery County, and quietly repaired a great
many garments that their owners had been told were beyond saving.
You may be able to make small fixes, but when it comes to bigger cases, leave it to the
professionals. We can perform general alterations so you can keep all your clothes in
good condition — and we can do almost any alteration, including high-quality suit
alterations and wedding dress alterations for your big day.

It is the last inch that shows
A sleeve that ends at the wrist bone, a shoulder that sits flat, a waist that follows
yours — these are small adjustments, and they are the difference between a jacket you
own and a jacket that looks like it was made for you.
Charts and size labels are a starting point, not an answer. Every measurement we take is taken on you, standing in the shoes you'll actually wear.
Respect the fabric
Silk, denim, beaded lace and upholstery weave all behave differently. Knowing what a cloth will tolerate is most of the craft.
Never miss the date
A wedding does not move. When the deadline is tight, we schedule around it and offer expedited service rather than turning the work away.
